Printer Brother MFC-L2750DW review

Brother MFC-L2750DW review: the 4-in-1 laser printer that has everything to appeal to SMEs

Presentation

Replacing the MFC-L2740DW in the Brother catalog, the MFC-L2750DW incorporates most of the characteristics while trying to improve the recipe. Monochrome laser 4-in-1, this printer has serious arguments to impose itself among small and medium-sized businesses.

Design

The least we can say is that Brother's MFC-L2750DW, a classic multifunction laser printer, is aimed at professionals and small businesses. This black block of 41 x 39.8 x 31.8 cm for 12 kg indeed houses the essential elements of any printer-fax oriented productivity.

Connection

The connection is thus complete with USB ports, RJ45, RJ11 and Wi-Fi module. Whatever the connection mode chosen, the installation is done smoothly and is guided by the printer drivers.

Compatible mobiles can even be paired using NFC, before interacting with the printer via the iPrint & Scan application, which is rather intuitive. Note the support for the main cloud printing platforms (from AirPrint to Google Cloud Print via Cortado Cloud Print).

Likewise, the paper supply provides for multiple inputs, with a main tray that can accommodate 250 standard sheets (80 g / m²), an alternate manual feed tray, all supplemented on the scanner side by an automatic document feeder with a 50 sheet capacity.

Finally, if the control panel is equipped with a color touchscreen display limited in size (6.8 cm diagonal), it has the advantage of being supported by a set of buttons which are always very practical to launch a copy in one. click or type a fax number.

Nothing to say about the accessible parameters or the readability of the options offered: everything is very clear.

Cost per page

Shipped with starter toner given for 1,200 pages at ISO standard, the most economical toner to refill the MFC-L2750DW with ink is the high-capacity TN-2420, with a capacity of 3,000 pages. This gives an average cost per page of around 2.3 euro cents ($ 0.023), which is very low. This is one of the main advantages of laser technology and we can therefore be sure that using this model over time will not be too expensive.

Scanner and copies

No particular problem is noted in the operation of the flatbed scanner which works at 1200 x 1200 dpi or in that associated with the automatic document feeder capable of scanning at 600 x 600 dpi. Note that the latter supports two-sided scanning in one pass.

Under the glass, the main scanner takes 11 seconds to scan a document at 100 dpi, which is pretty fast. Logically, we find this speed with the copy function, which takes 12 s to reproduce a page. The copies come out slightly too contrasted at the base (it's adjustable), but remain perfectly legible.

Office automation

In terms of printing speed, Brother's promise here is that of a speed of 36 pages / minute (ppm). Our in-house tests show that the MFC-L2750DW is almost there, at 35.3 ppm. It is therefore one of the fast laser printers and confirms its position in duplex, mode in which it provides a throughput of 13.3 ppm.

When it comes to print quality, the pages are what you would expect from such a printer. The characters are very precise and the overall rendering is particularly clean, despite the graphics and loaded areas a bit too contrasted, which does not make them less readable.

STRONG POINTS

  • Quick.
  • Easy to use.
  • Complete connectivity.
  • Nice software part.
  • Advantageous cost per page.
  • Double-sided efficient scanning and printing.

WEAK POINTS

  • Quite noisy.
  • No window on the main paper tray.
  • Energy-intensive, like all laser printers.

CONCLUSION

On its niche and on an equivalent price range, we would tend to prefer this Brother MFC-L2750DW to an HP M227fdw , which it exceeds in almost all areas despite a slightly more traditional design. Offering a controlled, comprehensive, practical and fast cost per page, it has few flaws.
